Worship After Work
It always inspires me to be able to watch other people worship. It’s typically frowned upon in church, because worshipping is supposed to be a private and personal time between a person and God. Which I agree. So it almost seems oxymoronic that when I enter with my camera, I’m suddenly allowed unlimited access. Whereas a fleeting glance to your neighbor in church is looked down upon, suddenly now I am not only allowed to stare at everyone, but I am allowed to photograph their most intimate moments with their Lord. It’s truly a liberating experience, and I’m fortunate that the Democrat has been sending me out for their Faith Centerpieces recently.
My visit yesterday to Tallahassee Community Church’s ‘Worship After Work’ service was nothing less than inspiring as well. The church meets monthly in the Leon County Civic Center, as they do not yet have a building. Also happening in the Civic Center last night was Godby High’s Graduation, so the walls and halls were rattling with the cheers of excited 18 year olds. Greg Kirkland, of the movie ‘The Gospel’ fame (which I haven’t seen), was a special guest leading the worship. As with all the churches that I visit, I met some wonderful people, heard some inspiring music, and watched some powerful things happen.
